Extracted by steam distillation from the seeds mature of Pimpinella anisum L. (anise green, anise, anise), plant herbaceous annual of the Apiaceae native of the Middle East and of the Mediterranean oriental (Egypt, Greece, Turkey), cultivated from millenni as spice and remedy medicinal in all the Mediterranean.
