Extracted by steam distillation from the leaves and from the branches of Leptospermum scoparium J.R.Forst. & G.Forst. (manuka, New Zealand tea tree, kahikatoa), shrub of the Myrtaceae endemic of the Nuova Zelanda and of the Australia oriental, where grows spontaneously on a large varieta of suoli, from the prati costieri to the areas montane. The manuka and the plant sacra of the Maori neozelandesi (te kakaho, the ramo strong), used for costruire capanne, as fonte of fuoco and as remedy medicinal traditional for fever, cold and skin infections. The phytochemical profile is dominated by triketoni: leptospermone, iso-leptospermone and flavesone (5-30% totali) — trichetoni beta specific of the genus Leptospermum — with sesquiterpenes (calamenene, delta-cadinene) and alpha-copaene. THE triketoni of the manuka have straordinaria activity antifungal (superiore to the oil of tea tree against Candida) and antibacterial (attivi on Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Streptococcus). In aromatherapy and used as antifungal powerful, antibacterial anti-MRSA, antiinfiammatorio skin, healing and antiallergic. Top note medicinal, resinous, sweet-herbaceous and slightly affumicata.

3 drops Manuka + 2 drops Lavender + 1 drop Tea tree in 20 ml of gel of aloe vera. Apply to the aree acneic as treatment purifying: superiore to the tea tree on the skin irritate.
