Plant description

Extracted by steam distillation from the sommita flowering of Filipendula ulmaria (L.) Maxim. (olmaria, regina of the prati, meadowsweet), perennial herbaceous plant of the Rosacee widespread in the areas wet, to the bordi of the fiumi and in the prati paludous of the Europe and of the Asia temperata. The regina of the prati and historically celebre as the plant from which fu isolato for the first volta the acid salicilic in the 1835 from Johan Lowig — the stessa molecule which poi Bayer sintetizzo as acid acetilsalicilic (aspirina) in the 1897. The name 'aspirina' derives appunto from 'Spira' (Spiraea ulmaria, vecchio name botanic of the olmaria). The phytochemical profile is dominated by salicilato of methyl (25-50%), aldeide salicilic (20-35%) and benzaldeide, with eugenol and vanillina in traces. The salicilato of methyl has properties analgesic topiche, anti-inflammatory and antipiretic — mechanism analogo to the aspirina (inibition of the COX-1 and COX-2). In aromatherapy and used as analgesic and anti-inflammatory rheumatic, antipiretic, antiseptic and digestive. Attenzione: contraindicated in the allergy to the aspirina and with anticoagulant. Top-to-heart note fresh, herbaceous-medicinal, with note of almond and flower white.

Main uses

Recipes & blends
Anti-rheumatic and antiartrous

4 drops Regina of the prati + 3 drops Lavender + 2 drops Chamomile common in 30 ml of arnica oil. Massage with movements circular on the joints artritic and reumatic.

Fever and state influenza-related

3 drops Regina of the prati + 2 drops Eucalyptus radiata + 2 drops Mint peppermint in 20 ml of almond oil. Massage onto wrists and caviglie as febrifugo and antipiretic natural.

Anti-inflammatory joint acuto

4 drops Regina of the prati + 3 drops Helichrysum + 2 drops Lavender in 25 ml of oil of St. John's wort. Apply to the area with inflammation acuta (borsite, tendinite) three times to day.

Analgesic headache

2 drops Regina of the prati + 2 drops Mint peppermint + 1 drop Lavender in 10 ml of almond oil. Apply to the temples and on the nape in case of headache.

Gout and depositi of urato

4 drops Regina of the prati + 3 drops Juniper + 2 drops Grapefruit in 30 ml of jojoba oil. Massage ontolle areas colpite from gout for the analgesic effect and uricosuric combinato.

Contraindications
Not take during pregnancy, in the periodo of the breastfeeding, in case of allergy to the salicilati and in the presence of gastrite and ulcera.
