Extracted by steam distillation from the leaves and from the twigs young of Melaleuca ericifolia Sm. (rosalina, lavender tea tree), shrub or small tree of the Myrtaceae endemic of the coasts southern Victoria and of the New South Wales in Australia, where grows in the areas coastal wet and in the paludi salmastre. The rosalina is one of the oils australiani less conosciuti but more interessant of the aromatherapy: the its phytochemical profile is eccezionally balanced, with linalool (35-55%), 1,8-cineole (10-25%) and α-pinene — a combination which unisce the dolcezza anxiolytic of the linalool with the properties antiinfettive of the cineole. The rosalina is often chiamata 'the tea tree for children' perché — to differenza of the tea tree classic (M. alternifolia) — is particularly gentle and tollerata also from the skin more sensible, pur mantenendo to excellent antibacterial activity and antiviral. In aromatherapy it is used as antiinfettive sweet, immune-stimulating, anxiolytic and decongestant. Recommended for children above the 3 years. Top-to-heart note floral, fresh and delicataly lavandacea.
