Extracted for distillation frazionata in corrent of vapore from the fresh flowers of Cananga odorata (Lam.) Hook.f. & Thomson (ylang ylang, flower of flowers), large tree tropical of the Annonacee native of the Philippines and of the Indonesia, now cultivated mainly in the Comoros Islands (90% of the production worldwide), to Madagascar, in the Philippines and to Réunion. The distillation is condotta in frazioni successive (extra, THE, II, III, completo) with profili chimic and prezzi decrescent — the fraction 'extra', harvested in the first now, is the more high-quality and floral. The phytochemical profile is dominated by germacrene-D (15-25%), linalool (5-20%), β-caryophyllene (8-15%), benzyl-acetate (6-12%) and p-cresile-methyl-etere — a composition complessa of sesquiterpenes and esters aromatic which genera the fragrance floral-sweet-creamy inconfondible. The ylang ylang is one of the components fondamental of the Chanel No. 5 and of molti perfumes oriental and floriental of the XX century. In aromatherapy it is used as sedative of the nervous system and cardiaco (documented ridution of the heart rate and of the blood pressure), antidepressant, aphrodisiac and tonic emotional. The fragrance very intense may cause headache if used in eccesso. Heart note floral, sweet, creamy and oriental.
Philippines, Indonesia and Madagascar; the distillations more apprezzate come from the Comoros Islands and from the Madagascar.
