Plant description

Extracted by steam distillation from the flowering tops of Thymus vulgaris L. chemotype linalool, a rare chemotype of the thyme common of the Lamiaceae which si distingue for the elevatissima concentration of linalool invece of the tipici phenols (thymol, carvacrol) or of the ketones. This CT is specific of some popolations localized in the areas montane of the French Provence, of the eastern Spain and of the Italy southern, where conditions particular of elevation and microclimate promote the via biosintetic of the linalool. The phytochemical profile is dominated by linalool (65-85%), with linalyl-acetate, α-terpineol and geraniol — a composition which reminiscent of the wood of rose and the lavender, radically different from the thyme thymol or carvacrol. This composition provides to the thyme linalool a profile of tollerability excellent: not is dermocaustic, not irritates the mucous membranes, not is neurotossic — the 'thyme safe' for children (above the 3 years), anziani and people with sensory skin. In aromatherapy is a antiseptic sweet and polivalent, immune-stimulating, antifungal and antibacterial, anxiolytic and sedative mild. Top-to-heart note floral-herbaceous, fresh and morbida.
