Plant description

Extracted by steam distillation from the wood of Cryptomeria japonic (Thunb. ex L.f.) D.Don (cedarwood giapponese, sugi), large conifera of the Cupressacee (ex Taxodiacee) endemic of the Japan, where is the species forestal more cultivated and the simbolo nazional of the paesaggio montano — the piantagioni of sugi coprono the 12% of the territorio giapponese. The sugi is also the cause main of the pollinous primaverile giapponese (kafunshō), a of the allergies stagional more severe and diffuse. The phytochemical profile of the wood is dominated from sesquiterpenes: α-cedren-11-olo (elemol: 30-45%), β-eudesmolo, δ-cadinolo and β-caryophyllene, with cedredanolo and cryptomeridiol caratteristic of the species. In aromatherapy it is used as tonic of the nervous system with effect grounding-meditative (simile to the cedarwood of the Atlante but more mite), as insettifugo (repellent for mosquitoes and moths), tonic venous and as fragrance of meditation in the traditions zen. The fragrance warm and slightly affumicato is associato to the estetic wabi-sabi giapponese. Base note woody, earthy and quieta.

Recipes & blends
Shampoo anti-dandruff

5 drops of Cedarwood giapponese + 3 drops of Tea Tree + 2 drops of Rosemary in 100 ml of shampoo neutro.

Spray repellent tissues

10 drops of Cedarwood giapponese + 5 drops of Lavender + 5 drops of Cedarwood atlantic in 100 ml of distilled water. Spray on indument and armadi.

Diffuser Zen

3 drops of Cedarwood giapponese + 2 drops of Cypress + 2 drops of Sandalwood in the diffuser.
