Obtained for steam distillation from the parts aeree of Cistus ladanifer L. (cisto ladanifero, cisto white, rock rose), evergreen shrub of the Cistacee native of the penisola iberic and of the Nordafrica, where forma macchie dense in the soils silicei poveri and assolati of the western Mediterranean. The ladano — the gommoresina secreta from the peli ghiandolari of the leaves and of the branches young — era già citato in the Esodo biblic as ingredient of the ketoret, the fragrance sacro of the Tempio of Gerusalemme, and harvested traditionally pettinando the mantello of the capre which pascolavano among the cespugli of cisto. The phytochemical profile is dominated by viridiflorolo (10-20%), camfene, α-pinene and β-pinene, with labdanolo, trans-pinocarveol and linalool — sesquiterpenes and diterpeni caratteristic of the genus Cistus. The cisto has to antiviral activity documented particularly interessant: estratti of C. ladanifer are states studied for the inibition of influenza viruses and of the rinovirus. In aromatherapy it is used as antiviral of choice, antiinfiammatorio skin, healing excellent, emostatic for wounds superficial which sanguinano and as fixative ambrato in perfumery alta. Base note resinous, warm, earthy-boisée and ambrata.

2 drops of Cisto + 3 drops of Rose damascena + 2 drops of Helichrysum + 1 drop of Neroli in 30 ml of rosehip oil.
2 drops of Cisto + 2 drops of Frankincense + 2 drops of Sandalwood + 1 drop of Myrrh in the diffuser.
3 drops of Cisto + 2 drops of Lavender + 2 drops of Tea Tree in 50 ml of cream neutra. Apply to the areas from treat due times for day.
